Timeline in Windows 10

Surely, you might already have noticed that you have a new feature in the system called the Timeline in Windows 10 and most likely, you have already tried to use this system add-on, but you do not have anything from this did not work out. It is for this reason that we decided to try to describe in as much detail the basic functionality of the new add-on for the OS, which is ideal for those users who want to always and everywhere work with the Edge browser, but at the same time use different devices. In addition, if you understand this function and its capabilities, you can more globally approach various working and entertainment moments on the Internet, for this reason, we decided today to touch on this topic.

What is the Timeline in Windows 10?

In fact, the timeline in the "Top Ten" was created so that any user could return to the content with which he worked using the Microsoft Edge browser (and not only) over the last 30 days on one of his devices. Thus, it is in some way a function that allows using Microsoft's account and various devices that are attached to it, to synchronize the "history" of resource visits with a lot of versatile opportunities to work with them.

How to use the Timeline in Windows 10?

The Timeline is launched using the "Task View" button, which is located on the "Task Panel", or, using the "hot keys" "Win + Tab.

Earlier, we already talked about how you can add "Task View" to the "Taskbar", so this should not have you creating additional questions.

Note that all elements of the Timeline will be located under the block with the running applications, where they themselves are grouped by date. You can see the dates themselves in the header, or, after you make the scrolling (the dates on the right side will appear). In addition, each individual "tile" has its own name and unique icon. If it is a question of sites, then there is a link to a particular file. If the application has this capability, it creates a tile image based on the background image of the particular resource.

If you consider the default settings, then you can note that for each individual date, in the "Main Window" of the scale itself, you can see only 10 files and the sites themselves. If you do not have 10 links, click on "View all actions" and you will be able to see the entire history of your actions, where there will be grouping by the hour. It is also worthwhile to pay attention to what the number is displayed in the name of the link itself, since it will indicate a specific number of actions on your part for 1 day.

Also, you can use "Search", which is located in the upper right corner of the monitor screen. We register the desired result and see its display in the grouping by date.

If you find a specific action that interests you and want to go to it, then make a simple click on the "tile". After clicking, you will see that one opens in three different applications (it all depends on which one you worked the last time). If you look at applications from the Microsoft Store, then they support automatic installation on the first request of the Timeline. Immediately, on the "tile" there is also a progress indicator of the installation.

If, some action you no longer need, then you can make it self-removal from the Timeline, you just need to use the "context menu". It is possible to delete not only individual elements, but a fully selected date.

If you need to delete all the items in the group, this action will require additional confirmation from you.

At the moment, Timeline in Windows 10 does not have additional options for customization, but it is possible to go to: the Options panel, from there to Systems, then to Multitask, and from there, you can make disabling advertising in the form of recommendations.

Thus, the Timeline can become available to any user who is really interested in using this software add-on.
